Finding The Lost City: Atlantis

Finding the Lost City of Atlantis

Atlantis, the city of dreams and has incredible architecture. It is know as the most advanced society in the ancient world. Atlantis comes from a book by our great philosopher Plato, it is a fictional island. An extra ordinary civilization that is lost forever. But why did the city came to an end? It says that the great city was destroyed by the Greek gods and goddesses. According to the great philosopher, Plato, in which the writer of the fictional island that was described having such sophisticated structures and stuffs.
Citizens of Atlantis are called Atlantians, these people was been described by Plato as great engineers and architects. There were palaces, harbors, temples and socks, they really have a great civilization. Atlantians built the capital city on a hill and was surrounded by rings of water, which were joined by tunnels large enough for a ship to sail through. But because of gods anger, Atlantis was destroyed in just one day and night that went under the ocean waves.  Lots of people have been looking for this mysterious lost city, Atlantis. Just like the city of Troy, that was said unreal was been found. So is Atlantis real? Or just a plain fictional story that was written by a philosopher?
Finding this mysterious sunken city has become a stuff of obsession. Many people from different generations tried to find Atlantis but ends up having a failure in finding the city.
Plato`s writing provide any Atlantis seeker a detailed road map. According to Plato Atlantis was an island kingdom with land rings and circular harbors situated beyond the pillars of Hercules this leads Dr Richard Freund to begin his search in southern island of Spain. Freund focuses in Doñana national park. He believes that a massive ancient bay once existed here. Archaeologists believe that buried in the marsh is the lost city of Atlantis. In 1922, 2 Archaeologist proposed that Atlantis was hidden under the said mudflats but for many decades most scholars ignored the theory. In 2004 a young German physicist named Rainer Kuehne makes headlines using satellite photography to resurrect the old theory.

"I am here within the mudflats of the Donana National Park. It is exactly here where i think Plato`s Atlantis was located." -Rainer Kuehne.

Comparing the photograph to the description  of Plato, Kuehne becomes convinced that the lost city was here in Spain. To really prove their theory they must find a evidence that there is a massive disaster that happened in that area.

Dr. Juan Antonio Morales finds geological evidence of a long history of massive tsunamis hitting the cost line.

"You can see the how the displacements of some of these rocks along this shelf is tens, even hundreds of meter long. This suggest the displacement is not caused by a single tsunami, but by successive tsunamis"
-Dr. Juan Antonio Morales
If the rings of atlantis existed in this ancient bay and were ravage by successive tsunamis. The city would be pull into sea. As a result evidence of the lost civilization my not just be on Doñana Mudflat it could be underwater of the modern coast. So their team takes their new search.

In the heart of Mediterranean sea in the island of Crete a remarkably sophisticated palace has been on earth and the fine has been re ignited the search for the most famous of all lost world, with its massive scale, its complex water management system and the engineering of this extraordinary palace ties it closely to Plato`s description of Atlantis. Plato describes Atlantis as an acropolis sitting on top of a great hill, at Knossos we find just that. Knossos is the largest Bronze Agre Archaeological site on Crete and is considered Europe`s oldest city. This city is the closest one to Plato`s description of Atlantis. Knossos can be found in Heraklion, Crete, Greece. The Minoan architecture on Crete seems to reflect the same blueprint as Atlantis. With these reason it would be easy to imagine minoans calling their city by another name; Atlantis. To match the description with Atlantis the Minoan city also has its acropolis(An acropolis ( Greek: ἀκρόπολις; from akros or akron, "highest", "topmost", "outermost" and polis, "city"; plural in English: acropoles, acropoleis or acropolises is a settlement, especially a citadel, built upon an area of elevated ground—frequently a hill with precipitous sides, chosen for purposes of defense. In many parts of the world, acropolis became the nuclei of large cities of classical antiquity, such as Ancient Rome, and for this reason they are sometimes prominent landmarks in modern cities with ancient pasts, such as modern Rome) with dwellings and halls.

According to Plato the bull is the central part of atlantian culture. In atlantis sacred bulls are worshiped by priest. Here in Knossos its obvious that bulls was once a part of symbol. You can also see that this people suffer from great disaster just like what Plato wrote about Atlantis. The culture and importance of the bull, the stunning architecture, the Eotopian lifestyle together paint a familiar picture it seems possible that the people of Knossos are really long lost people Atlantians.
Minoan architecture, temple, arts, culture its all wiped out by the most powerful volcano eruptions in human history. The case linking the Minoans to Atlantis is strong but the legend of Atlantis disagree because of its sinking and overnight disappearance. And for the Minoans the eruption is not its end. Some manage to survive. With this reason the theory that says that the Minoans are the Atlantians came to an End.

Until now we still don’t have any proofs that the great city is real, It makes me wonder on which side would I believe. There’s this saying, “To see, is to believe”. Stupid saying, so if it’s not visible to our sight then should we not believe on it? Because in my situation, this amazing city is really real for me, that it had existed a long time ago, thousands of years to be exact. It took two books just to describe the history and the every little detail of this almost magical country. Lots of people really wants to find the lost city, but still they fail.Would this seekers find where Atlantis really is? Or will it just be a myth?
